Rare baryon decaysΛb→Λℓ+ℓ−(ℓ=e,μ,τ) andΛb→Λγ: Differential and total rates, lepton- and hadron-side forward-backward asymmetries

2013

Using the covariant constituent quark model previously developed by us, we calculate the differential rate and the forward-backward asymmetries on the lepton and hadron side for the rare baryon decays ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Lambda}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ ($\ensuremath{\ell}=e$, $\ensuremath{\mu}$, $\ensuremath{\tau}$) and ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\gamma}$. We use helicity methods to write down a threefold joint angular decay distribution for the cascade decay ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Lambda}(\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p{\…

Nucleon structure functions and light front dynamics

1999

We present a quark-parton model to describe polarized and unpolarized nucleon structure functions. The twist-two matrix elements for the QCD evolution analysis of lepton-hadron scattering are calculated within a light-front covariant quark model. The relativistic effects in the three-body wave function are discussed for both the polarized and unpolarized cases. Predictions are given for the polarized gluon distributions as will be seen in future experiments.

Electromagnetic transitions of heavy baryons in theSU(2Nf)⊗O(3)symmetry

2001

We apply heavy quark symmetry to the radiative decays of heavy baryons. Even with this symmetry in place there are too many couplings to make a meaningful set of predictions. We show that if, in addition, light-diquark symmetries are applied, the number of electromagnetic couplings among S wave and P wave states as well as those between P wave to S wave transitions can be reduced significantly. Using this constituent quark model picture a number of predictions are made that will be testable in the near future.

Diquark-diquark correlations in theS01ΛΛpotential

2005

We derive a $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ potential from a chiral constituent quark model that has been successful in describing one, two, and three nonstrange baryon systems. The resulting interaction at low energy is attractive at all distances due to the $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ exchange term. The attraction allows for a slightly bound state just below the $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ threshold. No short-range repulsive core is found. We extract the diquark-diquark contribution that turns out to be the most attractive and probable at small distances. At large distances the asymptotic behavior of the $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ interaction provides a…

Mapping of Composite Hadrons into Elementary Hadrons and Effective Hadronic Hamiltonians

1998

A mapping technique is used to derive in the context of constituent quark models effective Hamiltonians that involve explicit hadron degrees of freedom. The technique is based on the ideas of mapping between physical and ideal Fock spaces and shares similarities with the quasiparticle method of Weinberg. Starting with the Fock-space representation of single-hadron states, a change of representation is implemented by a unitary transformation such that composites are redescribed by elementary Bose and Fermi field operators in an extended Fock space. When the unitary transformation is applied to the microscopic quark Hamiltonian, effective, hermitian Hamiltonians with a clear physical interpre…

MODELING THE TRANSVERSE MOMENTUM DEPENDENT PARTON DISTRIBUTIONS

2010

We review quark model calculations of the transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs). For the T-even TMDs, we discuss the physical origin of model relations which hold in a large class of quark models. For the T-odd TMDs we review results in a light-cone constituent quark model (CQM) with the final state interaction effects generated via single-gluon exchange mechanism. As phenomenological application, we show the good agreement between results in the light-cone CQM and available experimental data for the Collins asymmetry.

2003

In a scenario where the constituent quarks are composite systems, generalized parton distributions (GPDs) are built from wave functions to be evaluated in a constituent quark model (CQM), convoluted with the GPDs of the constituent quarks themselves. The approach permits to access the full kinematical range corresponding to the DGLAP and ERBL regions, so that cross-sections for deeply virtual Compton scattering can be estimated.

HEAVY HADRON SPECTROSCOPY: A QUARK MODEL PERSPECTIVE

2012

We present recent results of hadron spectroscopy and hadron hadron interaction from the perspective of constituent quark models. We pay special attention to the role played by higher-order hock space components in the hadron spectra and the connection of this extension with the hadron-hadron interaction. The main goal of our description is to obtain a coherent understanding of the low-energy hadron phenomenology without enforcing any particular model, to constrain its characteristics and learn about the low-energy realization of the theory.

Light baryons and their electromagnetic interactions in the covariant constituent quark model

2012

We extend the confined covariant constituent quark model that was previously developed by us for mesons to the baryon sector. In our numerical calculation we use the same values for the constituent quark masses and the infrared cutoff as have been previously used in the meson sector. In a first application we describe the static properties of the proton and neutron, and the $\Lambda$-hyperon (magnetic moments and charge radii) and the behavior of the nucleon form factors at low momentum transfers. We discuss in some detail the conservation of gauge invariance of the electromagnetic transition matrix elements in the presence of a nonlocal coupling of the baryons to the three constituent quar…
