Diquark-diquark correlations in theS01ΛΛpotential

2005

We derive a $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ potential from a chiral constituent quark model that has been successful in describing one, two, and three nonstrange baryon systems. The resulting interaction at low energy is attractive at all distances due to the $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ exchange term. The attraction allows for a slightly bound state just below the $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ threshold. No short-range repulsive core is found. We extract the diquark-diquark contribution that turns out to be the most attractive and probable at small distances. At large distances the asymptotic behavior of the $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ interaction provides a…

Constituent quark model study of light- and strange-baryon spectra

2005

We investigate the structure of the SU(3) octet and decuplet baryons employing a constituent quark model designed for the study of the baryon-baryon interaction and successfully applied to the meson spectra. The model considers through the interacting potential perturbative, one-gluon exchange, and non-perturbative, boson exchanges and confinement, aspects of the underlying theory, QCD. We solve the three-quark problem by means of the Faddeev method in momentum space. We analyze the effect of the different terms in the interaction and make contact with the use of relativistic kinematics. We find an explanation to the strong contribution of the pseudoscalar forces in the semirelativistic app…

Semileptonic decays of theBcmeson

2001

We study the semileptonic transitions ${B}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c},$ $J/\ensuremath{\psi},$ D, ${D}^{*},$ B, ${B}^{*},$ ${B}_{s},$ ${B}_{s}^{*}$ in the framework of a relativistic constituent quark model. We use experimental data on leptonic $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ decay, lattice and QCD sum rule results on leptonic ${B}_{c}$ decay, and experimental data on radiative ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}$ transitions to adjust the quark model parameters. We compute all form factors of the above semileptonic ${B}_{c}$ transitions and give predictions for various semileptonic ${B}_{c}$ decay modes including their $\ensuremath{\tau}$ modes when they are kinematically accessible. Th…

Heavy quark spin symmetry and heavy baryons: electroweak decays

2010

Heavy quark spin symmetry is discussed in the context of single and doubly heavy baryons. A special attention is paid to the constraints/simplifications that this symmetry imposes on the non-relativistic constituent quark model wave functions and on the b->c semileptonic decays of these hadrons.

Double parton correlations in Light-Front constituent quark models

2014

Double parton distribution functions (dPDF) represent a tool to explore the 3D proton structure. They can be measured in high energy proton-proton and proton nucleus collisions and encode information on how partons inside a proton are correlated among each other. dPFDs are studied here in the valence quark region, by means of a constituent quark model, where two particle correlations are present without any additional prescription. This framework allows to understand the dynamical origin of the correlations and to clarify which, among the features of the results, are model independent. Use will be made of a relativistic light-front scheme, able to overcome some drawbacks of the previous cal…

J/ψ dissociation cross sections in a relativistic quark model

2003

We calculate the amplitudes and the cross sections of the charm dissociation processes J/\psi \pi => D \bar D, D* \bar D, D \bar D*, D* \bar D* within a relativistic constituent quark model. We consistently account for the contributions coming from both the box and triangle diagrams that contribute to the dissociation processes. The cross section is dominated by the D* \bar D and D* \bar D* channels. When summing up the four channels we find a maximum total cross section of about 2.3 mb at sqrt(s) \approx 4.1 GeV. We compare our results to the results of other model calculations.

Lowest- Q2 measurement of the γp → Δ reaction: Probing the pionic contribution

2006

To determine nonspherical angular momentum amplitudes in hadrons at long ranges (low Q^2), data were taken for the p(\vec{e},e'p)\pi^0 reaction in the Delta region at Q^2=0.060 (GeV/c)^2 utilizing the magnetic spectrometers of the A1 Collaboration at MAMI. The results for the dominant transition magnetic dipole amplitude and the quadrupole to dipole ratios at W=1232 MeV are: M_{1+}^{3/2} = (40.33 +/- 0.63_{stat+syst} +/- 0.61_{model}) (10^{-3}/m_{\pi^+}),Re(E_{1+}^{3/2}/M_{1+}^{3/2}) = (-2.28 +/- 0.29_{stat+syst} +/- 0.20_{model})%, and Re(S_{1+}^{3/2}/M_{1+}^{3/2}) = (-4.81 +/- 0.27_{stat+syst} +/- 0.26_{model})%. These disagree with predictions of constituent quark models but are in reaso…

Spin, helicity and flavour patterns in exclusive decays of bottom mesons into baryon-antibaryon pairs

1989

I use the constituent quark model to calculate the exclusive decays of bottom mesons into ground state baryon-antibaryon pairs mediated by the weakb→c and b→u transitions. TheW-exchange contributions to these decays are found to be negligible. For theW-decay contributions I find that the simple colour-flavour structure of the 1/2+ and 3/2+ ground state baryons together with the current-current nonleptonic Hamiltonian leads to many simple and testable predictions. Notable among these is the predicted vanishing of decays involving 3/2+ baryons as in\(\overline {B^0 } (B^ - ) \to 3/2^ + \overline {1/2^ + } \) and\(\overline {B^0 } (B^ - ) \to 3/2^ + \overline {3/2^ + } \). An experimental veri…

Generalized parton distributions and constituent quarks

2002

An approach is described to calculate Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) in Constituent Quark Models (CQM). The GPDs are obtained from wave functions to be evaluated in a given CQM. The general relations linking the twist-two GPDs to the form factors and to the leading twist quark densities are recovered. Results for the leading twist, unpolarized GPD in the Isgur and Karl model are presented.

Helicity-dependent generalized parton distributions and composite constituent quarks

2004

An approach, recently proposed to calculate the nucleon generalized parton distributions (GPDs) in a constituent quark model (CQM) scenario, in which the constituent quarks are taken as complex systems, is used to obtain helicity-dependent GPDs. They are obtained from the wave functions of the non relativistic CQM of Isgur and Karl, convoluted with the helicity-dependent GPDs of the constituent quarks themselves. The latter are modelled by using the polarized structure functions of the constituent quark, the double distribution representation of GPDs, and a phenomenological constituent quark form factor. The present approach permits to access a kinematical range corresponding to both the Do…
